Mitigating period poverty among refugee women in Lebanon: how a local organisation is making a contribution

WingWoman Lebanon (WWL), in partnership with Stand for Women, is making significant strides to combat poverty. This initiative supports women from vulnerable communities by creating reusable period pads and diapers, providing them with livelihood opportunities. WWL distributes these products through NGO partners, ensuring financial sustainability and broad reach.

WWL's reusable pads, designed to be washed and reused, help reduce environmental waste by preventing around 790 disposable pads per pack from ending up in landfills. They come in various fun patterns and colors, offering a practical and eco-friendly solution.

What began as a small sewing circle has grown into a thriving organization, supporting 23 women and distributing over 55,000 reusable pads across Lebanon. With plans for further expansion, WWL continues to empower women and promote sustainable solutions to period poverty.
